EchoStar Satellite Services L.L.C. is a wholly owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation (Nasdaq: SATS) and provides a reliable network available for backhaul, aggregation and distribution of video, audio and data domestically and internationally. Anders Johnson Anders Johnson serves as President of EchoStar Satellite Services, reporting directly to Michael Dugan, Chief Executive Officer and President of EchoStar.
Mr. Johnson was most recently at SES World Skies where he served as Senior Vice-President, Strategic Satellite Development since 2005. Prior to SES, Anders worked at GE from 1985 in a variety of executive level roles including Satellite Services, Aviation Services and Transportation & Industrial Financing.
Richard Mortellaro Richard Mortellaro, a satellite industry veteran for more than 20 years, is the Senior Vice President of Satellite Services and is responsible for all Sales, Marketing, and FSS Business Development activities. Prior to joining EchoStar, Mortellaro served in Sales and Marketing leadership positions at Telesat, Loral Skynet, and Intelsat. Rick began his sales and marketing career in commercial broadcasting where he served as promotion producer and later as promotion director. Rick earned a Master of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of New Orleans (Louisiana) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Loyola University (New Orleans, Louisiana).
Vernon Smith Vernon Smith is Senior Vice President of Business Development for EchoStar Satellite Services. Vern is a 20-year digital/IP television industry veteran who has spent seven years in southern California forming companies and developing opportunities for delivering entertainment via satellite and broadband to hotels, colleges, and apartments. Vern previously led the merger and acquisition activities as well as technology investments for the Socíeté Européenne des Satellites in Luxembourg, most notably developing business plans for SES Astra. Prior to his work in Europe, Vern held positions with an international pay television consulting firm and DIRECTV International where he launched the international business unit that led to the formation of direct-to-home businesses in Japan and Latin America. Vernon holds a MS and a BS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Washington and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
